Creating a Culture of High Performing Teams

What differentiates high performing teams from the rest? In our latest study we look at seven key areas leaders can focus on to improve levels of team satisfaction and culture; turning average teams into high-performing ones, because high-performing teams don't happen by chance.

Dale Carnegie London covers a broad range of performance-based training solutions.

Dale Carnegie London has been in the business of transforming lives and organisations since 1960, through our personal and professional development solutions. Representing London and the UK South East, we equip individuals and teams with the essential skills needed to thrive in today’s complex, fast-moving and highly pressurised modern world. Working with individuals, teams and companies of all sizes and in all sectors, we sharpen human performance, enhance internal culture and improve bottom-line results. This is achieved by developing the social and emotional intelligence of people, enabling them to establish and maintain better relations with colleagues and clients, communicate persuasively with all audiences, manage stress and worry, lead with influence rather than authority, and more effectively win people to their way of thinking.

Our areas of expertise include human relations, presentation skills, sales mastery, leadership, customer service and the people side of process improvement, and our solutions can be delivered face to face, live online or as a blended solution (both in-house or via public programmes). Partnering with some of the largest Fortune 500 companies across the world to fledgling start-ups seeking to make their mark in their local marketplace, and everything in between, our roster of clients includes Microsoft, Petrofac, Standard Chartered Bank, Mitsubishi, Lundbeck, Channel 4, The Landmark London and KPMG to list but a few.

Building a People First Culture Through Creativity & Intrinsic Motivation

Dale Carnegie’s global research specialists, AKA our Thought Leadership Team in New York, have uncovered a range of interesting facts on the power of creativity in business culture. One study, involving five thousand employees across 15 countries, indicated that in the most innovative companies, everyone has a role in developing an idea and bringing it to market. Unfortunately, creativity can often give way to the constraints of process, perfection, doubt, and perceived best practices. This is where a clearly defined innovation process can come into play.

Earlier in my career, I collaborated with a talented team of technical site managers, responsible for welfare, policy infrastructure and implementation. Over time, their influence had eroded at senior level, making policy implementation more challenging. To be impactful and have their voice heard, they understood the need to think and act creatively. The key was providing a framework  to voice ideas and suggestions.

Gently Does It: Overcoming and Managing Weariness

We the people have ridden a tidal wave of emotion over the last two plus years because of, well, you know what. And, not to trivialise, things are still a little tricky out there.

As a trainer, I see my role as guiding transformation. At Dale Carnegie, we think of the steps in this journey as emotional change, behaviour change, through to performance change. To a greater or lesser extent, the training room can offer anthropologic insights into the mood of the moment. In recent months, I have noticed a particular weariness when people enter the environment on day one. It is a feeling I would describe as ‘post resilience’ where the need to be flexible to change is now so engrained, that a quiet and tired acceptance is now undermining true agility.

This dimming of the aura is both understandable and relatable. Stretching after all, is best on a yoga mat not on a torture rack!

5 Time Management Tips to Avoid Festive Stress @ Work

July 20, 2019

‘Tis the season to be jolly, but for 73% of the UK workforce the build up to Christmas is anything but merry, with concerns that work will ruin their festive cheer.

Additional social commitments, end of year project deadlines, getting ready for ‘New year, new targets’ and trying to prepare for time-off, along with the pressure of being ready for the big day itself means the season of goodwill is a testing time for a lot of people.
