The College is first in Canada to partner with Dale Carnegie Training to deliver world-famous curriculum
(London, Ontario) – Fanshawe College is proud to announce a partnership with Dale Carnegie Training that will bring The Dale Carnegie Course to students looking to bolster their business presence. Fanshawe is the first Canadian post-secondary institution with this partnership, modelled after similar arrangements in the United States. The first course will be available starting in late October 2014.
"Dale Carnegie Training enjoys partnerships with many universities in the United States and worldwide," said Thomas Otley, Dale Carnegie's senior vice president for global academic partnerships. "We are very excited about our relationship with Fanshawe College because it has a fine reputation and is one of the largest colleges in Ontario. Together, Dale Carnegie and Fanshawe will equip students and business professionals with skills that will enhance their success and the success of the organizations they serve."
The eight-week course, which will be offered for credit, consists of experiential learning modules that help participants strengthen their ability to deal with challenging situations, manage stress and handle fast-changing workplace conditions. Based on the personal development principles of Dale Carnegie's best-selling book "How to Win Friends and Influence People," course content focuses on equipping people to be more persuasive communicators, creative problem-solvers and responsible leaders.
"We are very excited about our partnership with Dale Carnegie Training, which has an established track record of superior communications, human relations and leadership curriculum," said Bruce Smith, senior manager of Fanshawe's School of Continuing Education and Career Advancement. "This partnership, the first of its kind among Canadian colleges and universities, complements our existing programming with new and creative learning opportunities aimed at improving and strengthening the personal growth and career advancement of our students."
"In my 25 years of experience, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many Fanshawe College staff and students in our public programs," said Gary Danner, the local representative and strategic business partner with Dale Carnegie Training of Southwestern Ontario. "As a Fanshawe graduate myself, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this course directly to students."
Effective Communications and Human Relations is offered Tuesday evenings from 6:29 to 10:00 p.m. and begins on October 28. For students considering the course, two free preview sessions will be held at Fanshawe College on Tuesday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 14, both starting at 5:59 p.m. in room A1039.
