DALE CARNEGIE TRAINING HONORS DENVER'S MAYORFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Media Contact: Kathleen Dugan DALE CARNEGIE TRAINING HONORS DENVER'S MAYOR Hauppauge, NY (June XX, 2007) - Dale Carnegie Training, the influential global business training company with more than 93 years of operation, today announces Mayor John Wright Hickenlooper as recipient of 2007 Dale Carnegie Leadership Award. One of only ten awards are presented annually worldwide, and this marks the first time that the esteemed award has been bestowed upon an individual, as opposed to a company or organization. "We are thrilled to honor Mayor John Wright Hickenlooper as the first person to receive the Dale Carnegie Leadership Award since its inception since 1985," says Peter Handal, chairman, president and CEO of Dale Carnegie Training. "In addition to John's compelling ability to motivate the people of Denver, we were most impressed with his capacity to enact such a positive change in a city that needed a new enthusiasm for business growth and culture." As mayor, Hickenlooper's first tasks included taking on the city's budget crisis and reforming its career personnel system. He broke with the past tradition of appointing political insiders to his cabinet and selected a youthful crew of appointees. In April 2005, he was named one of the top 5 big-city mayors in America by Time magazine. Although several of his predecessors had attempted and failed, Hickenlooper also successfully lobbied to bring the Democratic National Convention to Denver in 2008. "I am proud to accept this highly acclaimed and internationally recognized honor from such a prestigious and well respected organization," says Hickenlooper. "This Dale Carnegie Leadership Award acknowledges Denver's creativity, innovation and dedication to continuous learning and growth." The Dale Carnegie Leadership Award is presented to an individual or company who is a major contributor to its country's economy and society through a special emphasis on the development of its human resources, innovation and organizational creativity. The first Dale Carnegie Leadership Award was presented in 1985 to The Ford Motor Company. Other past winners include: Coca-Cola, Adidas, The Boeing Company, State Farm Insurance, Stop & Shop, Wal-Mart, Campbell Soup and The Four Seasons Hotel. # # #
